Originally from New York City, Alessandra is a third-year MFA Dramatic Writing student at the University of Southern California. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 2020, majoring in English and American Studies with a dual concentration in creative writing and queer studies. Their plays explore queerness through the lens of family, temporality, and the body. Alessandra’s plays have been workshopped at Wesleyan University and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Most recently, her play BENEATH THIS EARTH was part of the USC New Works 2 staged reading series at the Garry Marshall Theatre.

Alessandra Viegas has graced us with a special BONUS December episode of our podcast "Playmates" with her play A Writer At The End of The World. In this piece, Alessandra imagines the world where maybe writing is the best one can do to find solace among the chaos and terror. In this piece, Matilda Corey Schulman reads for "Writer" and Lee Harrison Daniel reads for "B." With a beautiful introduction by Eliza Kuperschmid, we hope you enjoy this wonderful creation from Alessandra Viegas!
