Sydney Weiser (she/her) is an NYC-based actor/director... who dabbles in painting not because she's any good at it but because she simply enjoys painting. Regional credits include: Chana/Halina/Vera swing (Indecent, Playhouse on Park), Pippa/Rosie (Dandelion, Playhouse on Park) Ella (Windywoo and Her Naughty Naughty Pets, Legacy Theatre), Sandy (The Spongebob Musical, Barn Theatre), Columbia (The Rocky Horror Show, Barn Theatre), and Betty Jean (The Marvelous Wonderettes, Carousel Music Theater). She received her BFA in musical theatre and directing from Marymount Manhattan College. Sydney extends tremendous gratitude to her loved ones, who support her as she hops around the country from theatre to theatre.
“Sad to say, 2023 has been the year where I compared myself to other people the most since recovering from the eating disorder that controlled me for nearly nine years. This year, I found myself so lacking, especially next to the women I envied romantically and professionally— women with tiny noses and agents. In painting (an activity that is purely for my heart and for leisure and in no way related to my professional endeavors), I accidentally found a bit more pride in my body. I come from a bloodline of bold, loving, energetic women. Painting also has inspired me to reconnect with the act of creativity and honing art not for product but for expression. I dedicate 2024 to developing myself as my own unique artist and to taking pride in my unique beauty. This is the year where Sydney Weiser at least sees how strikingly beautiful and powerful she has always been.”
